CONSTRUCTION OF FIFTH THERMAL POWER STATION MUST BE URGED

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The cabinet made on Wednesday a decision to intensify "The fifth thermal power station" project. The Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy D.Zorigt and the head of the Cabinet Secretariat of Government Ch.Khurelbaatar have been told to grant a right to a selected company to establish a concession contract after final results of the tender, and to submit a draft contract to the government on coal supplying and buying electric and thermal energy. Several measures will be taken as to prepare a construction of engineering infrastructure and other necessary facilities for delivering energy and heating to consumers, and for ensuring the coal supply when the power station is put into use. The cabinet plans, for instance, to increase a coal extraction in the Baganuur and Shivee-Ovoo deposits, to draw up a technical and economic justification for expanding the infrastructure, and to accumulate capitals for the construction from foreign loans and financial assistance and from the state budget for 2013. In addition, related Ministers have been ordered to construct a system of delivering thermal and electric energy produced by the power station, to calculate how much will be to connect the new power station with the centralized lines of Ulaanbaatar city, to ensure a water supply for the power station and a reliability of coal transportation, and to study influences the power station's waste or ash may give on people and nature. 34 companies have applied for the tender of the fifth thermal power station, the cabinet has received 11 applications.
