Cloud Computing Enables CIOs To Spend More Time On Strategy, Innovation: Report

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 21 (Bernama) -- Cloud computing has enabled Malaysian Chief Information Officers (CIOs) to spend more time on business strategy and innovation, according to a global report released by CA Technologies on Tuesday. The company said 57 per cent of Malaysian CIOs surveyed for the report, titled "The Future Role of the CIO", agreed that cloud computing has a significant impact on their role and 53 per cent of them believed that cloud computing has enabled them to spend more time on business strategy and innovation. "It is those CIOs who are already embracing cloud that report they have more time to spend on innovation and strategy compared to just 30 per cent of the non-cloud adopters," CA Technologies said in a statement here Tuesday. It noted that more than half of the CIOs surveyed see their role as a gateway to other roles, demonstrating the positive impact cloud is having on the role of technology. Vice President, Asia South, CA Technologies, Victor Cheng said: "We already know that cloud computing is 'revolutionary' in terms of what it can do for business. "But it is also breeding a new type of technology leader, one that understands what adopting cloud computing can do for the organisation, and one who believes that cloud can empower them to become a more complete leader of tomorrow." Ignoring the trend or what the stakeholders could bring to the leadership of an organisation will hinder business competitiveness and growth, he added. -- BERNAMA
