Moderate Earthquake Hits The Bonin Islands In Japan

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 29 (Bernama) -- A moderate earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale hit the Bonin Islands in Japan at 11.07pm Tuesday, the Malaysian Meteorological Department said. It said in a statement that the epicentre of the quake was 743km southeast of Hamamatsu, Japan and 3,363km northeast of Kudat in Sabah. The quake did not pose any tsunami threat. Sabah is located at the East Malaysia. -- BERNAMA
