400,000 Bottles Of Mineral Water Sold For Gaza Residents

PUTRAJAYA, Feb 29 (Bernama) -- The Perdana Global Peace Foundation (PGPF) has sold 400,000 bottles of mineral water through the Waqaf Water4Gaza Peace Road Tour held in Melaka and Perak recently. PGPF trustee Dr Samsudin Hitam said they were confident that through the programme, they would be able to sell 1.5 million bottles of mineral water this year, symbolising Gaza's 1.5 million residents who face difficulty obtaining clean water supply. "The proceeds from the sale of each RM1 bottle will be remitted to the people of Gaza. This is because we would face logistical problems to transport water to them from here," he told reporters after launching the Waqaf Water4Gaza Peace Road Tour here Tuesday. The programme officiated by Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing Minister Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin will be extended nationwide, with Johor as its next location in March. Johor is located in the southern region of Peninsular Malaysia. Samsudin said they hoped the programme would instill a love for peace among the community, as well as show the concern Malaysians have for the people of Gaza who are being oppressed by Israel's Zionist regime. Meanwhile, Nong Chik in his speech, said Malaysians were fortunate not to experience the same situation and that he was confident that peace would prevail with continued unity and support for the existing government. In conjunction with the programme, Nong Chik said an exhibition titled "War is a Crime" was being held for the public from Feb 26 to March at the Putrajaya Holdings building lobby. The exhibition will feature images of death involving soldiers in the battlefield, women, children and senior citizens as well as destruction in Iraq and Gaza. -- BERNAMA
