Olympic Council Of Malaysia Bids For 127th IOC Session In 2015

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 29 (Bernama) -- The Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) is bidding to host the 127th International Olympic Committee (IOC) session in 2015. OCM honorary secretary Sieh Kok Chi said the bidding document for the prestigious meeting was couriered to the IOC office in Lausanne, Switzerland, last Saturday. The closing date for the submission of the bid document was Tuesday, Feb 28. "It's a prestigious meeting. The session is actually the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the IOC. Some 115 IOC executive members attend the meeting and will decide several matters related to the Olympic games," he told Bernama Wednesday. Sieh said one of the important matters that would be decided at the 2015 AGM is the selection of the host for the 2022 Winter Olympics. "The executive members may also discuss other matters related to Olympic sports for the future games," he said. Sieh said that besides the 115 IOC executive members, the meeting would also attract more than 1,000 foreigners as well as wide media coverage around the world. -- BERNAMA
