by Nam Kwang-sik

SEOUL, Oct. 7 (Yonhap) -- Cheil Industries Inc., the textile unit of South Korea's Samsung Group, said Tuesday it plans to spend US$30 million over the next five years to tap U.S. and Chinese clothing markets.

Cheil Industries will open a design studio in New York in November to develop its
"Bean Pole" fashion brand into a global name, the company said in a statement.
The Samsung unit also said it plans to set up a store in Beijing in May next year
and open 50 stores across China by 2010.
Cheil Industries said it is targeting total sales of 715 billion won ($562
million) in 2013, of which about 30 percent will come from abroad.
