Nowruz Festival, Effective Step To Strengthen Peace: Ahmadinejad

Dushanbe, March 26, IRNA – Holding the Nowruz celebrations is an effective step to ensure peace and security in the world and strengthen cultural ties among the nations, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Sunday. Addressing the third International Nowruz Celebrations underway in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, President Ahmadinejad said the Nowruz fest is an opportunity for taking steps towards regional tranquility. Nowruz invites the world people to friendship and justice and encourages them to stand against injustice, noted the Iranian President. He reiterated that Nowruz carries the message of solidarity to the world nations. President Ahmadinejad arrived in Dushanbe on Saturday to attend the event. He is also to hold talks with his Persian-speaking counterparts there. Celebrations on Nowruz is held annually as the International Nowruz Day has been proclaimed by the UN General Assembly on March 21. The first and second international celebrations on Nowruz were held in Tehran in the past two years./end
