Mohammed bin Zayed urges Emirati interns in Korea to gain advanced knowledge and know-how

Seoul - March 27, 2012 (WAM) - Visiting Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan received yesterday at his residence here a group of UAE engineers and students who are attending and getting training at Korean higher education institutions and major companies. Sheikh Mohammed welcomed in attendance of Foreign Minister H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan engineers dispatched by Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) to Korea to undergo practical training at Korea Electric Power Corporation's construction site of nuclear reactors Shin-Kori 3 and 4, which are the reference plants for the UAE's first nuclear energy plant. The reference plants provide the UAE program with an effective blueprint for licensing, construction and operations, helping ENEC to achieve the highest standards of safety, quality and efficiency. ENEC offers a wide range of scholarship-based training and development programmes for UAE Nationals, which include undergraduate, postgraduate and vocational courses. So far, more than 24 Emirati engineers travelled to Korea to receive training programme spanning from four weeks to five months on the highest safety and quality standards on commissioning and operation of nuclear plants. The training programme provides the engineers a unique opportunity to gain practical nuclear energy industry experience Korea has accumulated over 40 years. Sheikh Mohammed also received interns sent by ADNOC group and its companies: Abu Dhabi Gas Industries Limited (GASCO), Abu Dhabi Company for Onshore Oil Operations (ADCO) and Ruwais Fertiliser Industries (FERTIL) as well as a number of interns sent by the UAE Armed Forces. The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi exchanged talks with the students and trainees and got assured of their condition and well being in friendly Korea. He urged them to be persistent in their quest to pursue their study and to gain advanced expertise from the Korean universities and institutes and show good morals which reflect the true value of Emirati human being. He affirmed that the nation was looking forward to see its children who are armed with science and knowledge to put their experiences at the service of development and progress the UAE is currently undergoing in all fields. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
