Pakistani Official Voices Support For Iran's Peaceful N-program

Islamabad, April 2, IRNA -- Deputy speaker of Pakistan's National Assembly on Sunday strongly condemned western opposition against Iran's peaceful nuclear program terming it baseless.
Talking to IRNA exclusively, Faisal Karim Kundi said that exerting pressure on Iran's peaceful nuclear program is unjustified.
He said that Pakistan has always supported Iran's peaceful nuclear program. The politician noted that the leadership of Iran is resisting the western pressure over its nuclear program.
'Definitely Iran’s nuclear right must be respected as the country is following all international laws regarding its peaceful nuclear activities,' said Faisal Karim Kundi replying to a question.
Deputy Speaker of Pakistani National Assembly added that it is the right of Iranian leadership to decide future of the country. 'They must be allowed to pursue independent policy without any external pressure,' said the political leader.
Expressing his views over Pakistan-Iran relations, Faisal Karim Kundi said both Pakistan and Iran are looking forward to enhance their cooperation in all sectors.
He dismissed the pressure on Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project adding that the project will open more avenues of cooperation in the region.
Referring to the trilateral summit between Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan, the politician said that President’s of all three countries are committed to enhance regional cooperation.
In response to a question, he said that sanctions against Iran have no legal justification due to the fact that Iran is pursuing a peaceful nuclear program.
Faisal Karim Kundi was of the view that sanctions cannot stop Iran from acquiring nuclear technology, rather they boost country's progress. He added that Iran is a brave nation and fully capable to resist the Western pressure./end
