Sanctions Provided Iran With Opportunities: Boroujerdi

Tehran, April 23, IRNA – Head of Majlis (Parliament) National Security and Foreign Policy said that the Iranian nation over past 30 years have turned the sanctions imposed on them into an opportunity for development and making progress in sciences and advanced technologies. Boroujerdi made the remarks in a meeting with the visiting Italian lawmaker, Lapo Pistelli, in Tehran on Sunday. “Islamic Republic of Iran has made considerable progress in many technological areas,” he added. Referring to the track record of Iran-Italy relations in different areas, Boroujerdi said that Iran pays special heed to its relations with Italy as an EU country. The Iranian diplomat emphasized on the important role of parliaments of both countries and parliamentary relationship between two countries in enhancing relations in other areas. Italian lawmaker, Lapo Pistelli, for his part said that Iran is an important country in the region, adding that interaction and cooperation with Iran is very important for Europe, particularly Italy. “Parliamentary friendship groups between two countries should expand their relations within the framework of interests of both nations,” he added./end
