Fisheries Exports Earned Iran $200m Last Year

Tehran, May 1, IRNA – Head of Iran Fisheries Organization Gholam-Reza Razeqi says export of 45,000 tons of fishery products last year fetched the country USD 200 million. Razeqi, quoted by Iran Fisheries Organization Public Relations Department, said cultured fish constituted more than 80 percent of the exports. He said the exports increased both in weight and value last year compared to the year before. He added that 3,400 tons of cultured shrimp, worth USD 17 million were exported to the UAE, Kuwait, Lebanon, Australia and European Union last year. He predicted that export of fisheries this year would rise by 20 percent as the country has high potential for the exports./end
