Pakistani Analyst Urges Iran To Pursue N-program

Islamabad, May 26, IRNA – A senior Pakistani analyst said here Friday that the Islamic Republic of Iran should continue its nuclear program because it is the sovereign right of any government to meet requirements. Talking to IRNA, Ansar Abbasi said that negotiations between Iran and the 5+1 is a positive development but western states should respect Iran’s legitimate rights. The second round of nuclear negotiations between Iran and the 5+1 ended in the Iraqi capital on Thursday. Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Sa'eid Jalili and the European Union (EU) Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton co-chaired the talks. The first round of fresh nuclear discussions between Iran and the Group 5+1- the US, Britain, France, Russia and China plus Germany, were held in Baghdad on Wednesday. The Iranian delegation to nuclear talks has offered a five-pivot package of proposals to the representatives of Group 5+1, led by European Union foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton. The package envisaged a step-by-step approach to resolve the dispute over Iranian nuclear program and the practical steps the western governments should take in parallel. Ansar Abbasi expressing his views said that the western states must accept the technological advancements of the Muslims with open mind. “No matter how much you are peaceful, they will not allow you to take independent decisions,” he pointed out. Abbasi praised Russia and China stand in supporting Iran’s peaceful nuclear program, noting that Iran is a big regional power and cannot be isolated by aggressive policies. The journalist opined that if the US can continue to be a nuclear power then how can they object over the nuclear programs of other countries. The journalist added Iran is a signatory to nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) and can use the nuclear technology for peaceful purposes. The analyst stressed the need for forging unity among Muslim Ummah adding that unity is the only solution to the problems of Muslims.
