HERITAGE AUCTIONS AGREES TO JOINTLY INVESTIGATE ORIGIN OF DINOSAUR

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The Heritage Auctions company reported on Tuesday it has agreed with the President of Mongolia to investigate an origin and legal ownership of the Tyrannosaurus bataar dinosaur skeleton that was auctioned on May 20 in New York, USA. This agreement is the follow-up to the official letter-request of the President Ts.Elbegdorj to support Mongolia in the investigation. "Mongolia's government intends to send its delegation and a group of experts to New York in June to have them inspected the skeleton in presence of the company's representatives and the person who sold the skeleton," the letter also said. The buyer of the skeleton, whose name is not sounded, has expressed a readiness to collaborate with the experts in the investigation, and conveyed to Robert Painter, an attorney hired by the State Head, necessary information about the skeleton's origin, preservation and transportation matters. The government of Mongolia has sent to the Heritage Auctions an English translation of the law that bans a transportation of pieces of cultural heritage, skeletons of dinosaurs and fossil findings from the territory of the country. By early June, a group of international paleontological experts will reveal results of the research that aims to confirm that the Tyrannosaurus bataar dinosaur's skeleton is found from Mongolian Gobi desert only. A statement about these results will be made by the Heritage Auctions company. B.Khuder
