S. Korea`s jobless rate falls to 3 pct in September
SEOUL, Oct. 15 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's jobless rate fell slightly in September from a month earlier, but job creation slowed as companies remained reluctant to hire new workers amid growing economic uncertainty, a government report showed Wednesday.
The unemployment rate stood at 3 percent last month, compared with 3.1 percent in
August, according to the report by the National Statistical Office.
The figure is in line with a median forecast in a poll of economists at 10
research institutes by Yonhap Infomax, the financial news arm of Yonhap News
Agency.
The economy generated 112,000 new jobs in September compared with a year earlier,
decelerating from 159,000 created in August and falling far short of the
government's annual target of generating 200,000 more jobs.
