Lee asks for closer energy cooperation with Mongolia

SEOUL, Oct. 16 (Yonhap) -- President Lee Myung-bak on Thursday met with visiting Mongolian Prime Minister Sanjaagiin Bayar for discussions on expanding practical bilateral cooperation in the energy and infrastructure construction sectors, the presidential office Cheong Wa Dae said.

"Lee asked Bayar to support South Korean companies seeking to participate in the
development of Mongolian coal mines," Cheong Wa Dae said in a press release.
"Lee also noted a number of South Korean companies wish to participate in
Mongolia's infrastructure expansion projects, including the construction of a
cogeneration plant in Ulan Bator," said the statement.
Bayar held talks with Prime Minister Han Seung-soo shortly after his arrival in
Seoul Wednesday.
