Z.ENKHBOLD BECOMES PARLIAMENT SPEAKER

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ A parliamentarian Z.Enkhbold became the Speaker of Parliament at the first plenary meeting kicked off at 11.50 on Tuesday. At 12.30 am, 40 parliamentarians out of 42 voted for Mr Enkhbold as the new Speaker. After this, a temporary chairman of the parliamentary session L.Tsog MP officially handed over the seal of the State Great Khural to Z.Enkhbold. Enkhbold Zandaakhuu was born in 1966 in Ulaanbaatar. He graduated from the secondary school of Selenge province in 1984 and from the Ural Polytechnic Institute (UPI) of former USSR in 1989 majoring in automatics and telemechanics engineering. He also graduated from the Mongolian State University (MSU) majoring in law, and defended a master degree in the University of Denver of the USA in 2004. He speaks English and Russian. Z.Enkhbold worked as a head of the State Property Committee (SPC) in 1996-1999, as an advisor to the Speaker in 1999-2000, as the secretary-general of the Democratic Party (DP) in 2000-2001, and as the SPC's head in 2004-2005. He was a member of the Parliamentary Sub-Committee for Human Rights, also served as member of the parliamentary groups for the Mongolia-USA, Mongolia-Russia, Mongolia-Singapore, Mongolia-China and Mongolia-Japan relations.
