Mongolian PM seeks cooperation with Korean firms

By Nam Kwang-sik

SEOUL, Oct. 16 (Yonhap) -- Mongolian Prime Minister Sanjaagiin Bayar asked South Korean firms Thursday to support his country's economic development projects in a meeting with local business leaders here.

"The role of entrepreneurs is central in expanding economic cooperation between
South Korea and Mongolia," Bayar said in the meeting hosted by the Korea Chamber
of Commerce & Industry (KCCI).
South Korea's experience in transforming itself from an agricultural economy into
a dynamic industrial hub will be helpful for Mongolia's own economic development
projects, said Sohn Kyung-shik, chairman of the chamber.
Earlier in the day, President Lee Myung-bak called for Bayar to support South
Korean companies seeking to participate in the development of coal mines and
infrastructure expansion projects in Mongolia, according to the presidential
office Cheong Wa Dae.
Bayar started his three-day state trip to South Korea on Wednesday.
