Taiwan's Foxconn Looking For Indonesian Partner

Jakarta, July 31 (ANTARA) - Industry Minister MS Hidayat said Taiwan`s Foxconn is looking for a local partner to build factories to produce electronic components in the country. Foxconn wants a partner having a local brand as it is not easy to develop a new brand, Hidayat said here on Monday. He said Foxconn will help in production system and application of technology in electronic industry. He said Foxconn would need a location of 500 hectares to build the factories by phases. In the first phase it would need 50 hectares , he said, adding first expansion would need 200 hectares and a second expansion 250 hectares. Foxconn is expected to build its factory units in three different provinces with a total cost of up to US$10 billion. Earlier Hidayat said the project would be located in Java where the infrastructure is more adequate. Construction is expected to start by the end of this year or early next year, he added.
