SK Energy signs deal to produce high-end asphalt

SEOUL, Oct. 17 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's top refiner SK Energy Co. said Friday
that it has signed a preliminary deal with KBR Inc., a U.S. engineering and
construction company, to join forces in producing high-end asphalt.
Starting September next year, SK Energy plans to produce high-end asphalt at its
plant in Ulsan, an industrial city about 400 kilometers southeast of Seoul, in
cooperation with KBR, the company said in a statement.
SK Energy said it will expand its presence in Asian asphalt markets to post a
projected 1.3 trillion won (US$1 billion) in sales in 2015.
