N.ALTANKHUYAG BECOMES 27TH PRIME MINISTER OF MONGOLIA

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ At a meeting at 4.00 pm on Thursday, the Standing committee on state structure discussed an issue of nominating the Democratic Party's chairman N.Altankhuyag for the post of Prime Minister of Mongolia. A deputy head of the Presidential Office B.Nergui introduced this matter to the committee, after which all members of the committee backed Mr Altankhuyag. Shortly after this, a plenary meeting of the parliamentary session approved the new Prime Minister with 72.4 per cent voted of MPs. Thus Mr N.Altankhuyag becomes the 27th Prime Minister of Mongolia. He was born in 1958 in Ulaangom soum in Uvs aimag. He graduated from the aimag's secondary school in 1976 and the Mongolian State University (MSU) in 1981. He worked as secretary of the Mongolian Social Democratic Party (MSDP) in 1990-1992, a director of the "Ene odor" company in 1992-1994, a secretary-general of the MSDP in 1994-1996, a Minister of Agriculture and Industry in 1998-1999, a member of parliament in 1996-2000, a MSDP's secretary-general and a head of the Standing committee on security and foreign policy in 1999-2000, a head of the DP in the city's Songinokhairkhan district in 2000-2001, the secretary-general of the DP in 2001-2003, a Minister of Finance in 2004-2006, a consultative advisor to parliament in 2006-2008, a head of the DP's Policy Council in 2008. From the year 2008, he was working the DP's chairman, MP, First Deputy Premier of Mongolia. He was elected the MP of the 2012 parliamentary election. B.Khuder
