MONGOLIAN AND US NUCLEAR ENERGY EXPERTS TO MEET

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ Mongolia and U.S. experts on nuclear energy will hold the 2nd meeting on August 22-23 in Ulaanbaatar within the Mongolia-U.S. intergovernmental mutual-understanding memorandum on the cooperation in exploitation of the nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
It has been reported at a news conference held in the US Embassy in Mongolia. This year's meeting will discuss human resources and infrastructure of the nuclear energy sector, nuclear security, controlling and responsibility, and non-proliferation. Both Mongolia and the USA have faced common challenges such as increasing needs of energy resources, a long-time energy supply, its security and the climate change. Mongolia has a big resource of uranium and maintains long-run objectives developing the industry of uranium and being separated from the nuclear weapons, so Mongolia needs to seek renewable energy or resources of energy.
Mongolia and the USA regret hearing a false information about talks on burying nuclear waste in Mongolia or on establishing a nuclear waste installation. The U.S. side fully respects Mongolia's right to independently make decisions regarding the nuclear energy and is ready to collaborate with Mongolia in matters of mutual interest, a report says.
