Turkish Min. : Tehran Meet To Play Effective Role In Resolving Problems Of NAM Members

Tehran, Aug 30, IRNA – Turkish Minister of Planning Jodat Yilmaz said the Tehran meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) will be effective in solving the problems of the member statutes. He made the remarks here Thursday upon arrival at Imam Khomeini Airport for the 16th NAM Summit. He said the NAM summit is the second biggest general assembly of world leaders after the United Nations. Talking to reporters, he said Turkey is attending the meeting as a guest, adding that the meeting provides an opportunity for the country to promote interaction with other countries. Regarding changes in world’s political profile and the progresses all countries are making, the minister noted, the Tehran meeting is a good chance to introduce solutions to problems the NAM member states are facing. On Tehran-Ankara relations, he said the two countries have for long enjoyed good relations, noting that Turkey’s presence in the NAM meeting would even help further promote bilateral ties. The 16th NAM Summit will open shortly in Tehran with the opening remarks of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei./end
