PRESIDENT MEETS SUPREME LEADER OF IRAN

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The President of Mongolia, Ts.Elbegdorj, who is paying an official visit to Iran on September 1-3, has met the Supreme Leader of Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Seyed Ali-Khamenei. Ts.Elbegdorj congratulated the Supreme Leader on successfully having run 16th high level meeting of Non Aligned Movement /NAM/. In response, the Supreme Leader said that the two countries have many-year history of relations. When the Mongolians created Ilkhanate King in Iran, the Persian culture began developing, for example, the Ulziit King tomb was built, astronomical centers and a university with 600 students were created. The Iranian history began being recorded from these times, for example, by Juvan or “Sudriin chuulgan” by Rashid ad-Din, and all this show that when the Mongolians were ruling here, Iran's culture and arts were flourishing, he went on. That is why the Iranian people are grateful to the Mongolians for their writing and developing Iran's history, which was given later an impetus during the Mongolian Tumur Khaan's governing, he added. The Mongolians also widely spread the Persian language, for example, after having conquered north India they made the Persian the court/palace language, which was in force until the British invasion, he said and underlined that he supports a Mongolia-Iran joint historical researches. Mr Elbegdorj said that the Mongolian side will pay a great attention to developing of the two countries' relations. The Mongolians celebrated the 2200th anniversary of establishing the Mongol Empire last year, in 2012 "we are marking the 850th anniversary of Chinggis Khaan's birthday, so I officially invite Your representatives to these ceremonies”, he said.
