Support of UAE President behind success of Khalifa International Date Palm Award: Nahyan
Abu Dhabi, Oct. 19, 2008 (WAM) - The directives of President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on supporting the Khalifa International Date Palm Award, was behind the success scored by the award regionally and internationally, according to Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister and Board Chairman of the Khalifa International Date Palm Award HE Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan.
Dr Abdulwahab Zayed, secretary general and rapporteur of board of trustees of the award, said after reviewing and sorting out the award entries in Al Ain city, that the participants are 35, representing 16 countries worldwide.
He added that Sheikh Nahyan has instructed the judgement panel to exercise scientific honesty and accuracy in a way that ensures each participant is evaluated technically and scientifically as per the specifications and conditions laid down by the award.
With a view of enhancing the conduct and proliferation of date palm research in the world and rewarding those individuals and institutions that have contributed substantially to it, the Khalifa International Date Palm Award has been set up.
