PRESIDENT OF INDONESIA MEETS CIVIL SOCIETY REPS
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The two Presidents Ts.Elbegdorj and Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono visited the “Civil hall” under the President to meet the civil representatives on September 6.
An advisor to the President, Ms Ch.Sosormaa introduced the high guest to activities of the Hall, sayng it was created in 2009, ran some 100 open discussions with 6 thous.people to gain votes for draft laws on public issues.
Mr Elbegdorj said the President of Indonesia is the seeker of justice, fighter against corruption, and a worker for creating a good governance, secondly, he is the supporter of civil society, democracy, freedom and participation of people, and, thirdly, he is the supporter of green economy and the friend of nature environment. Mongolia should study Indonesia's experience in these spheres, he added.
The President of Republic of Indonesia, Dr Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono thanked for the meeting in the “Civil hall” and then spoke in detail about his country's achievements and other issues, mentioning, for example, that politics and economy of Indonesia have been improving, that the democratic society has been creating stability and peace in Indonesia, improving thus people's life, social welfare and education. When developing the democracy, it is important to prioritize human rights, to develop a tolerance, to respect a justice, he stressed.
He appreciated Mongolia's chairing the Community of Democracies, saying Mongolia makes own people and the international society realize the democracy values, and spoke about Indonesia's running the Bali Democratic Forum.
Indonesia is ready to share its experiences in developing the democracy with Mongolia and to study Mongolia's experience gained in running reforms, developing the democratic values, keeping human rights, respecting laws, fighting against corruption, he said.
Then the civil representatives and the media asked the Indonesian leader some questions.
