SEOUL, Oct. 20 (Yonhap) -- The newly-appointed Chinese ambassador to South Korea
will arrive here this weekend to take up his post, officials said Monday.
Cheng Yonghua, currently Beijing's top envoy in Kuala Lumpur, replaces Ning
Fukui, who has ended his three-year tenure in Seoul.
"Ambassador Ning will fly back to Beijing today," said Cho Yun-soo, deputy
spokesman at the South Korean Foreign Ministry. "The new ambassador is scheduled
to arrive in South Korea on Oct. 26."
Cheng would become one of China's highest-ranking diplomats to work as ambassador
to South Korea since the two nations established diplomatic ties in 1992.
Cheng is known for his expertise in Asian affairs. He has worked in Malaysia since
2006.
