STATE HEAD GATHERS LEADERS OF PARTIES

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The 2012 parliamentary election had some achievements in the support for women candidates, but a recently approved law on local elections has ignored women's participation and its regulation.
It was said by leaders of parliamentary political parties at a meeting with the State Head Ts.Elbegdorj on Wednesday.
"As we observed, the local elections run with greater number of women candidates in comparison with the parliament and the city elections. We must keep this tradition, we must augment the number of women candidates in the local elections, it should be at least 20 per cent out of total candidates, so I want every political party to focus attention on it," the leader of Mongolia said.
