Z.ENKHBOLD RECEIVES CANADIAN AMBASSADOR

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Mongolia
Mr J. Gregory Goldhawk said he is satisfied with a development of the bilateral relations that are boosting not only in the mining sector but also in other spheres.
He said it on Friday at a meeting with Z.Enkhbold, the Speaker of parliament. The two countries have started a cooperation in a the public service reform, and the ties in the defense and peacekeeping have been expanding as well, he went on.
The Ambassador underlined that Canada always supports Mongolia's democracy, activities of the Canadian developmental assistance programme have been widening here, and Canada's Embassy in Ulaanbaatar has established its representative of this programme.
Expressing a satisfaction with expanding of the economic relations between the countries, Mr Goldhawk emphasized that a level of the bilateral trade turnover has been increasing. He noted that some investors are worrying over a law on regulating the foreign investments at strategic important sectors.
In response, the Speaker said he regrets that the foreign media channels report false information about the business sector of Mongolia. “And our media report false information too, mistaking parliament's procedures as final decisions,” he added.
Z.Enkhbold underlined an importance of the visa matter in increasing the bilateral trade turnover and investments, and asked the Ambassador about a possibility to grant the Canadian visa to Mongolian citizens from the Embassy in Ulaanbaatar.
Mr Goldhawk reported the Canadian side is considering this issue.
