PRESIDENT VISITS HARVARD UNIVERSITY

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ In frames of a participation in the 67th session of the UN General Assembly, the State Head Ts.Elbegdorj has visited the Harvard University.
The President was welcomed by Ms Jackie O'Neill, the Marshal of the Harvard University, in the Wadsworth House. As a tradition, Mr Elbegdorj left his signature in the Book of Honored Guests, then Ms O'Neill officially received the President. She said Ts.Elbegdorj is one of the prideful alumni of the university.
Ms O'Neill noted that eight Mongolian students are studying at the Harvard University so far. She said Mongolia is one of the countries that have reached achievements in human rights and freedom after leaving the socialist system, and expressed a willingness to cooperate with Mongolia in case study by augmenting number of Mongolian students at the University and letting Harvard researchers and students work in Mongolia. The university wants to collaborate with Mongolia in developing the Mongolian studies, especially in propagandizing the Mongolian musical instruments, she added.
In turn, the President appreciated the proposals on increasing the quota on the Mongolians and sharing experiences, and said he is ready to support these actions.
Then the sides exchanged views on the Mongolian history, education, economy, mining, justice and democracy.
After the meeting, the State Head gave interviews to the Harvard Crimson, Harvard Political Review, HKS Citizen about the present socio-economic situation in Mongolia and experience in overcoming challenges after transmitting to democratic system.
