HEALTH MINISTRY DEL'N AT 63RD SESSION OF REGIONAL COMMITTEE

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ A delegation of Mongolia's Ministry of Health is participating in the 63th session of the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Committee for the Western Pacific. It opened on Monday in Hanoi, Vietnam.
The Mongolian delegation comprises S.Togsdelger, a head of the Health Ministry's department of health policy regulation; B.Yanjmaa, a director of the External cooperation and relations section; and A.Monkhtaivan, a director of the health project realized by the Mongolian Millennium Challenge Account.
Mr Togsdelger has delivered a speech at a debate in which took part delegates from over ten countries such as China, Japan, Australia and the Republic of Korea. He highly spoke this Committee's activity of the last year, underlining a big success reached in ceasing outbreaks of poliomyelitis and measles and in improving a control over Hepatitis B.
On behalf of the government, S.Togsdelger thanked the Regional Committee for professional and methodological assistance to the member-states in working out their inter-sector cooperation plans on reducing risk factors of non-infectious diseases. Moreover, he asked the Committee to pay attention to improving of training programmes and structures of schools on medical sciences.
The session will continue until September 28 to discuss the Committee's financial performance, draft budget and matters on reforming the WHO and implementation of programmes.
