Samsung Electro to acquire Chinese circuit board maker
SEOUL, Oct. 21 (Yonhap) -- Samsung Electro-Mechanics Co., a South Korean electronics components maker, said Tuesday it signed a deal to acquire a Chinese circuit board manufacturer for 27.1 billion won (US$20.44 million).
Through the buyout deal with J-Three International Holding Co. of Taiwan, Samsung
will take an over 95-percent share of Unicap Electronics Industrial Co. effective
November 30, the company said in a regulatory filing.
J-Three currently controls Unicap, based near Shanghai, which specializes in
producing circuit boards in liquid-crystal displays.
The South Korean company, a parts manufacturer under Samsung Group, said it
expects its circuit board production, its flagship business, to gain further
competitiveness through the acquisition. It currently has three production
complexes in China.
