STATE HEAD MEETS SPEAKER OF RIKSDAG

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ In frames of the official visit, the President Ts.Elbegdorj received on Wednesday Mr Per Westerberg, the Speaker of the Swedish Riksdag (parliament) and some representatives of political parties at parliament. The President told them about a history of Mongolia's democracy. He underlined that the European Union (EU) is an important partner of Mongolia for the foreign relations and that Mongolia aims to widen the relations with the EU and Scandinavian countries, including Sweden. Mongolia also intends to cooperate with Sweden in sharing experiences between parliaments, strengthening democracy and improving the principles of respecting human rights and laws, he went on. Mr Westerberg emphasized an importance of the State Head's official visit to Sweden, and said Sweden appreciates Mongolia's success and reputation in the democracy and human rights. The two sides should keep an active inter-parliamentary cooperation in order to bring the bilateral relations and cooperation into a higher level," Mr Westerberg said and wished the newly formed parliament and cabinet big successes. Then the sides exchanged views on other issues of the bilateral ties, culture and history of the countries. B.Khuder
