PRESIDENT LEGS GWP

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The Mongolian President has met Dr. Letitia A.Obeng, a Chair of the Global Water Partnership /GWP/ in Stockholm. Mentioning that the human right and water issues are closely interrelated, the President said some 2,500 rivers and springs have run dry in Mongolia in the last 20 years and that over 70 percent of the territory is affected by the desertification. "LIke other countries, Mongolia may face a problem with water," he added. Then the sides shared opinions on expanding of the cooperation between Mongolia's Humanitarian University and the GWP, on ways of collaborating with private sector and organizations dealing with water issues. The GWP was co-founded in 1996 by the World Bank, the United Nations Development Programme(UNDP) and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency. It cooperates with 74 countries in frames of water cooperation, has implemented several projects in Mongolia. Ch.Enkhtuya
