LG Dacom Q3 net up 28 pct on strong sales

SEOUL, Oct. 23 (Yonhap) -- LG Dacom Corp., a South Korean fixed-line operator, said Thursday that its third-quarter earnings rose more than 28 percent on-year thanks to increased demand for its Internet phone services.

Net profit reached 41.1 billion won (US$28.9 million) in the July-September
period, compared to 31 billion won a year earlier, LG Dacom said in a regulatory
filing.
Sales added 21.8 percent on-year to 410 billion won and the company's operating
profit rose 7 percent to 57.3 billion won.
LG Dacom, a unit of LG Group, one of South Korea's largest conglomerates,
provides fixed-line Internet and telephone services.
The company attributed its improved performance largely to a 178-percent sales
increase in its over-the-Internet phone and television business.
