Samsung Electro-Mechanics Q3 net down 29 pct
SEOUL, Oct. 23 (Yonhap) -- Samsung Electro-Mechanics Co., a South Korean electronics components maker, said Thursday its third-quarter net profit fell 29 percent on-year due to rising costs for raw materials.
Samsung Electro earned 26.4 billion won (US$18.6 million) for the three months
ended Sept. 30, compared with 37.3 billion won a year earlier, the company said
in a regulatory filing.
Sales, however, gained 23 percent to a record quarterly-high of 1.19 trillion won
and operating profit also gained 5 percent to 61.8 billion won.
Samsung Electro, a unit of the nation's largest conglomerate, Samsung Group,
specializes mostly in producing high-end condensers and light-emitting diodes.
