S. Korea, Denmark pledge closer ties in green technology
By Yoo Cheong-mo
BEIJING, Oct. 24 (Yonhap) -- South Korean President Lee Myung-bak and Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen held summit talks in Beijing on Friday and agreed to expand bilateral cooperation in the development of environmentally-friendly energy resources, Lee's spokesman said.
Lee and Rasmussen, both in China to attend the Asia-Europe Meeting summit, agreed
to make concerted efforts to conclude the ongoing free trade negotiations between
South Korea and the European Union as early as possible, according to
presidential spokesman Lee Dong-kwan.
"Lee praised Denmark for attaining the world's most stable economic growth on the
basis of its strong competitiveness in green technology and new renewable energy
development," said the spokesman.
"In response, Rasmussen said Lee's latest policy bid to intensively promote green
economic growth will help the entire world address the climate change problem.
The two leaders then shared the view that all countries across the world should
refrain from protectionist trade policies to pave the ground for global economic
recovery," the spokesman said.
