Obama’s visit to Myanmar to boost Thai border trade
RANONG, THAILAND, November 17 (TNA) - The Chief of the provincial Chamber of Commerce in Thailand's southern Ranong province, Naruemol Khorraphoom, says that US President Barack Obama’s upcoming visit to Myanmar will help boost the already-active Thai border trade.
Naruemol acknowledged Satruday that Obama’s visit to Myanmar on November 19 is a sign that the Southeast Asian nation has officially opened up, which will greatly benefit the country’s trade and investment.
Naruemol pointed out that Myanmar has started to relax its regulations to allow more foreign investors to invest in the country.
According to the provincial chamber of commerce chief, Thailand-Myanmar border trade should expand enormously over the next 5-10 years, thanks to growing demand and purchasing power in the neighboring country. (TNA)
