Thai police release 136 protesters
BANGKOK, November 25 (TNA) - Police have released 136 people who took part in Saturday’s anti-government rally, leaving two others detained, a senior police officer said.
Assistant national police chief Pol. Gen. Chatchawan Suksomjitr said 136 persons who joined the Bangkok rally, under the Pitak Siam group leader retired Gen. Boonlert Kaewprasit, were released Saturday night.
One of the two remaining people still detained had been charged with possession of unlicensed telecommunications equipment and could be given a maximum five-year prison term. The other man had been charged with driving a truck over a police officer who was manning the rally.
Saturday’s anti-government movement ended just hours before evening after demonstrators were told of a potentially violatile situation. (TNA)
