Thai PM orders ministers to compile info during censure debate

BANGKOK, November 28 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has ordered her Cabinet members to gather information fired by the opposition camp during a three-day censure debate, which ended late Tuesday, aimed to further improve her government’s performance. Thai Transport Minister Chadchart Sittipunt told reporters that Premier Yingluck made the instruction during a meeting held only hours after a vote of no-confidence was held at the Thai Parliament on Wednesday morning, during which Yingluck and three other Cabinet members comfortably survived the vote. Apart from the prime minister, the three other Cabinet members who were targeted in the censure debate included Deputy Prime Minister Police Captain ChalermYubumrung, Defence Minister Air Chief Marshal Sukumpol Suwanatat and Deputy Interior Minister Police Lieutenant General Chat Kuldilok. For his transport portfolio, Chadchart said Yingluck expressed concerns over corruption charges made by the opposition during the debate against the Marine Department and the State Railway of Thailand and ordered authorities concerned to probe into the matter. According to the minister, the prime minister plans to publish books for a public distribution to clarify opposition charges. Meanwhile, main opposition Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva, who is a former Thai prime minister, announced that his party plans to lodge complaints with several anti-corruption agencies over the next few days against ministries suspected of engaging in corruption practices although the Pheu Thai Party-led government has survived the no-confidence motion.
