Thailand eyes more migrant workers zoning

BANGKOK, December 2 (TNA) - More migrant worker zones are being considered for Thailand’s Ranong province, where an exodus of foreign workers is anticipated from the ASEAN Community inception in 2015. Ranong Governor Cherdsak Jampathet says a special panel will examine feasibility of the zoning plans, which focus on densely populated areas to reduce crime and poverty. National employment data suggest there are over 57,000 documented Myanmar, Lao and Cambodian migrant workers currently residing in Rayong. (TNA)
