Hyundai Mobis to spend 100 bln won for hybrid parts

SEOUL, Oct. 27 (Yonhap) -- Hyundai Mobis Co. said Monday it will spend 100 billion won (US$69.5 million) on auto part development by 2012 to help its parent Hyundai Motor introduce hybrid cars.

In addition, Hyundai Mobis, South Korea's largest auto-parts maker, plans to mass
produce parts for hybrid cars from May next year, the company said in a
statement.
Hyundai Motor plans to introduce its first gas-electric hybrid based on its
Avante compact car next year.
In 2010, Hyundai Motor will release a hybrid version of the Sonata sedan in the
U.S. market, the automaker's first foray into the hybrid segment in the world's
largest auto market.
South Korean battery maker LG Chem Ltd is supplying Hyundai with lithium-ion
batteries for its hybrid vehicles.
