S. Korea to donate US$20 mln for economic cooperation with Africa
SEOUL, Oct. 28 (Yonhap) -- South Korea plans to inject US$20 million into a recently established fund dedicated to promoting economic cooperation with African countries, Finance Minister Kang Man-soo said Tuesday.
"In addition to the $5 million fund that we established with the African
Development Bank (AfDB) last year, we will push to donate $20 million more," Kang
told a Seoul conference held in central Seoul.
The meeting, called the "Korea Africa Cooperation Conference" is the second of
its kind after being launched jointly by the Korean government and the AfDB in
2006.
The gathering has become a key channel for both sides to share knowledge related
to economic development. This year's event, which kicked off Monday for a
four-day run, drew around 130 dignitaries from African countries including AfDB
chief Donald Kaberuka.
