By Nam Kwang-sik

SEOUL, Oct. 29 (Yonhap) -- S-Oil Corp., South Korea's third-largest refiner, said Wednesday that its net profit rose 23.4 percent on-year in the third quarter helped by increased exports.

Net income came to 129.9 billion won (US$91.6 million) in the third quarter,
compared with 105 billion a year ago, S-Oil said in a regulatory filing.
Revenue shot up 86.9 percent on-year to 7 trillion won during the quarter, and
operating profit more than tripled to 486 billion won.
Shares of S-oil rose 4.51 percent to 60,300 won as of 10:16 a.m. on the Seoul
bourse.
"A rise in overseas shipments of transportation fuel pushed the third quarter
earnings up," said P.G. Kim, a spokesman for S-oil.
