One killed, 11 injured in hotel fire

BANGKOK, January 27 (TNA) - A man was killed and 11 others injured in a fire accident which burned an eight-storey hotel in Khlong San district, Bangkok, before dawn Sunday, police said. The fire erupted on the seventh floor of the Grand Tower Inn Hotel on the Thon Buri side at about 2.00 a.m. before spreading to other floors, forcing hotel’s customers and employees to run out of the burned hotel in panic, police said. It took firemen about an hour before they could bring the inferno under control, they said, adding that police initially believed the fire was caused by electric short-circuit. The dead victim was identified as a 47-year-old employee of the hotel and his body was found inside a bathroom on the third floor. Most of the 11 injured people suffered from inhaling smoke, police said. The hotel building was completely damaged while civil engineers are expected to inspect it later Sunday. (TNA)
