TU to be among top 40 universities in Asia by 2016

BANGKOK, January 28 (TNA) - Thammasat University (TU), Thailand's second oldest university, has eyed to be among top 40 universities in Asia by 2019 through its six strategies. TU Rector Professor Dr. Somkid Lertpaitoon announced the strategies on Monday, saying that the six strategies include internationalizing TU, developing WiFi in its compounds, creating cooperative networks with allied agencies overseas, upholding fairness, integrating curricula and developing investment plans. Professor Dr. Somkid acknowledged that the six strategies are part of TU's policies in 2013, focused on three aspects, including being a leading research university funded by an annual budget of 100 million baht, expanding its foreign language courses to 64, from 55 courses currently, based on its internationlization strategy, developing cooperative networks with 33 selected world institutes overseas, covering the setting up of a best modeled ASEAN study centre in the country. According to the rector, TU plans to add the course of TU 100, through which students are inculcated to have social responsibility. (TNA)
