SEOUL, Oct. 29 (Yonhap) -- The prosecution on Wednesday sought an arrest warrant
for Kim Min-seok, a member of the main opposition Democratic Party's standing
committee, on suspicion of taking illegal election campaign funds, the
prosecution said.
The request for the warrant came three days after the opposition legislator was
summoned for hours of interrogation.
Kim, 44, is suspected of accepting large amounts of illegal campaign funds from
two to three businesses ahead of this year's parliamentary election, according to
prosecutors. Kim failed to win a National Assembly seat in the elections held in
April.
The prosecution placed an exit ban on the opposition lawmaker last month and has
been tracing the illegal money transfer, they said.
Kim has denied the allegation, saying he has "never violated the political fund
law or accepted any bribes."
