Jordan to Get Grant Aid from Japan for Green Car Purchases

Tokyo, March 18 (Jiji Press)--The Japanese government will provide 300 million yen in grant aid to Jordan to help it buy hybrid and other fuel-efficient vehicles built with Japan's advanced environmental technologies, the Foreign Ministry said Monday. Using the aid, the Middle East country is expected to purchase dozens of such vehicles. The Japanese government hopes that the aid will help promote the use of Japanese green vehicles in Jordan. Jordan has experienced rises in fuel costs since oil pipelines linking the country with Egypt have been damaged partly by terrorist attacks, while the flood of refugees from neighboring Syria has led to an increase in Jordan's financial burdens. Japan has also decided on aid worth 500 million yen to Morocco to support its purchases of Japanese-made environmentally friendly vehicles. END
