Sabang To Step Up Tourist Attractions

Banda Aceh, March 21 (Antara) - The Sabang city government on the Indonesia`s westernmost island of Weh in Aceh Province has planned to increase the number of tourists attractions. Local Culture and Tourism Office spokesman M Ali Taufiq said here on Thursday that the tourist attractions would be stepped up for tourists who will arrive on board luxury cruise ships. "We are looking for an appropriate space to develop a flower garden to attract the tourists, arriving in Sabang by cruise ships from many countries," Taufiq said. Besides, he is also exploring an area where a mini zoo will be established as one of tourists attractions in the city. He said many cruise ships with thousands of foreign tourists in the past few years have visited Sabang, one of Aceh`s leading tourist destinations. Taufiq noted that some six cruise ships with tourists from many countries are scheduled to visit Sabang during this year. He said a cruise ship, MV Seabourn Pride, is scheduled to arrive in Sabang on Friday with hundreds of tourist from many countries. Last Tuesday, March 12, 2012, around 400 foreign tourists visited Sabang tourists resort in the Indonesian westernmost province of Aceh by Silver Whisper cruise ship. The 186 meter-long cruise ship flying Bahamas flag left Phuket (Thailand) before arriving in Sabang on Tuesday at 12.00 noon, Ali Taufiq said.
