Over $35m Hand-woven Carpets Exported From W.Azarbaijan Province Last Year

Khoy, W. Azarbaijan Prov., March 26, IRNA – Hand-woven carpets, worth over 35 million dollars, were exported in the last Iranian year of 1391 (2012-13), Director of the Carpet Affairs Department of the Industries, Mines and Trade Office in West Azarbaijan Province, Mohammad Nouri, said on Monday. Nouri told reporters that the carpets were exported to the Persian Gulf littoral states, Russia, Germany, China and Japan. The official said that in the year under study, more than 256,000 square meters of hand-woven carpets were produced in the province. He put the total value of the hand-woven carpets in the province last year at more than 5,000 billion rials, up about 10 percent compared to the figure in the same period the previous year./end
