Lippo Group To set Up 12 Hospitals In Eastern Regions

Makassar, South Sulawesi, April 17 (ANTARA) - Lippo Group plans to set up around 12 hospitals in eastern regions next year, its president, Theo L Sambuaga said. "Around 12 hospitals will be built in the future including general hospitals in several eastern regions such as Ambon, Palu, Sorong, Ternate and Kupang," he said at the Grand Opening of Siloam Hospital here on Wednesday. He said the hospital development project is part of the company`s Corporate Social Responsibility program. With regard to the operation of Siloam Hospital in Makassar, which is he 14th hospital set up by the group, Theo said that 25 percent of 320 beds in the hospital is allocated for the economically-weak with a third-class facility. "This is also part of the hospital`s CSR program," he said. He said the hospital which was built at a cost of Rp450 billion has prepared professionals for its management and also sophisticated equipment. He said the hospital located at the Losari Beach area is supported by 84 doctors including 61 specialists and 399 administrative personnel as well as medical personnel. South Sulawesi governor Syahrul Yasin Limpo meanwhile said on the occasion that patients in Makassar and other eastern regions now no long need to go to Jakarta or abroad for medical treatment because of the existence of the hospital. "The presence of the hospital with sophisticated equipment would make South Sulawesi the hub of medical services on the eastern region," he said.
